The coastal town of Brønnøysund – a journey through 10,000 years – among 10,000 islands, islets, and skerries.

In front of you lies Brønnøysund – a small, lively coastal town located in the southern part of Helgeland, and the southernmost town in Northern Norway. The town rests on a narrow peninsula, surrounded by islets, skerries, and open sea. Here, you are greeted by authentic coastal culture, with the guest harbor, the daily Coastal Route, and small, cozy eateries that give the place its distinctive atmosphere.

About five and a half thousand people live here today, while the entire municipality has around eight thousand. Brønnøysund became a town in 1923, and since then it has grown to become a vibrant center for agriculture, fishing, trade, and tourism. Here you will also find the Brønnøysund Register Centre, one of the country's most important government offices.

And not least – this is the gateway to some of Helgeland's greatest treasures: the iconic mountain Torghatten, the World Heritage site on the Vega Islands, and the lush fields of Sømna – a paradise for those who enjoy cycling and kayaking.
